Hobo Cosmology by kylelatino Hobo Cosmology by kylelatino
Music is such a big part of Sinktown Slink. I’m sure it’s obvious because of how may music notes I draw in the stip. Last week I saw a beautiful old book on Norse Mythology. It got me thinking about all the folk tunes and blues ballads about supernatural places, and I added the Turtle from Hindu traditions because a creature like that is the ultimate hobo! Add in some Harry “Haywire” McClintlock lyrics, some early socialist hymn, sprinkled with Delta Blues, just a dash of Winsor McCay, all wrapped up in the coils of the Wabash Cannonball, and you have a colorful cosmology! I had a lot of fun with this, and I hope you do too.

I love this. Big Rock Candy Mountain, Pie In The Sky, this is just incredible. I was just introduced to your art tonight, but I have the feeling I'm gonna be spending a lot of time in Sinktown for the next few days...

Cool! Where did you see the art, out of curiosity?

I really really struggled with the discion to not label all the different features. So, I'm glad you think they actually look like Rock Candy somewhat. Thanks for the kind words on the this and Sinktown. It's a harder sell than licensed charactes, but it's still important to me.

One of the guys I work with at Newsarama, Aaron Duran, shared your piece with the DC ladies playing D&D on Facebook, and it hit me right in the heart, so I just started looking through your gallery. I'm definitely gonna seek out more of your stuff!

Thanks! I had a blog on Newsarama years ago. It was about digital comics, but at that point the ipad was still a few years out, so there wasn't much to write about. Haha

And thank you for the interest and kind words!
