Iím moving from my home town for the first time. Itís something many people do a lot sooner in life than I, yet itís still a significant moment for me. Iím going from Indianapolis to Louisville. So before I pack up my drawing table, pencils, and brushes, I wanted to say goodbye to the first act of my life in Indianapolis by reflecting on, what has become, my favorite scene from one of the finest films ever pull to celluloid.
I have to admit, I never understood that haunting scene in the white room until I read Jack Kirbyís 2001 series earlier this year. The apocryphal 2001 stories done by Marvel truly enhance the viewing experience of the movie. The white room is about the ending oneís old life to be reborn as a new being. Perhaps I am too introspective, reading too much into what is a mundane experience that happens to everyone. Or perhaps itís the fantastic that allows scifi and comic fans to see the profound in the everyday.
Be seeing you.
